Formerly Kentucky Bible Institute
Welcome to Calvary Bible Institute. We exist in order to afford you an opportunity to study the Word of God -where you are; without leaving the ministry of God to move to a seminary; serving and learning at your local church; earning credit through proven curriculum and 'practicum' or 'experiential' credit; minimizing the expense; and maximizing the experience.
CBI is a religious institution granting academic certificates for use in non-secular ministries. CBI is not a secular, degree granting institution. Formerly "Kentucky Bible Institute" (ky-bible.edu), we moved to the Texas Hill Country in 1999 and have reorganized with Calvary Baptist Church, at New Braunfels, between Austin and San Antonio, Texas.
We offer local classes, on-line International studies, and a campus outreach in Northwest Mexico. We currently have students in the United States, Mexico, Australia, India, and Pakistan.
We believe that the best case scenario for education is a classroom with a qualified, God called instructor -however, many Christians are not able to attend seminary classes. Foreign mission or military assignments, rural locations, physical disabilities, and many other circumstances make it necessary to wait for years, in order to enter a traditional academic institution. We are here to fill that gap, by offering:
- Transfer of credit earned from other institutions
- Traditional semester classroom attendance
- Extension course and/or dissertation work
- * College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

* College Level Examination Program (CLEP) (no tuition fee)
( A credible program employed by most accredited institutions )
A student may earn college credit by taking the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests at a University Test Center near you, If college credit has not been earned in the area in which credit is sought and the student is not currently enrolled in a course in that area. [ see CLEP list ]
* Credit By Examination
( A credible program employed by most accredited institutions )
Credit by examination may be sought for many of the courses offered by the Institute. These examinations are conducted by the Institute, for credit in courses for which the student may already possess adequate academic achievement.
* Portfolio Development Program
( A credible program employed by most accredited institutions )
The Portfolio Development Program is a tool for accelerating certificate progress by documenting and assessing prior college-level learning gained in a variety of work, volunteer, and learning experiences. An adviser works closely with each student to determine potential for portfolio development to apply toward requirements of courses in the student's program of study.
* Practicum
( A credible program employed by most accredited institutions )
The purpose of the practicum is to provide students with opportunities to observe and practice organizational and leadership skills relevant to their major field of planned expertise. The practicum can be completed in a variety of diverse settings.
We know what many Universities have known for some time: a vast majority of college students earn certificates without ever being academically tasked or actually learning anything; experience is the best teacher; and only motivated people will complete a program such as this.
Our course work stresses intense/in-depth study of the King James (1611-AV) Bible as your text; development of research and writing skills; discipline in the Word of God; Evangelical outreach; student involvement in his/her local church; under the supervision of a local Pastor; and Christ as the center for all activities.
We offer study in disciplines (Social Sciences and Services relating to Ministry, Theology, Philosophy, Bible, and Education) leading to Associate (AA), Theological Graduate (ThG), Baccalaureate (BA), Master (MA), and Doctoral (DD, PhD) certificate programs at minimal cost. ThM and ThD certificates require extensive study in Greek and Hebrew languages. Latin is not offered through this institution.
A detailed program analysis and proposal will be submitted to the student upon receipt of a completed application; recommendation from your Pastor; and payment of application fees.
